DESCRIPTION:Join the Alaska Safe Riders team at the Menard Sports Center on Saturday\, September 28th at 1pm to attend a free backcountry safety workshop thanks to support from the Mat-Su Health Foundation and the Alaska Department of Public Safety Division Alaska State Troopers. Appropriate for ages 10 and up. All those who attend this workshop will earn their backcountry safety decal and a chance to win an Iron Dog helmet\, safety goggles\, and more. Featuring Iron Dog champions and racers. \nThis Backcountry Preparedness Training program will expose participants to the following: \n \n\nThe importance of proper planning and preparation.\nMaking decisions based on factual information about weather\, terrain and group dynamics.\nAssessment of appropriate methods for confronting wilderness challenges.\nKey concepts of avalanche awareness\, ATV/snowmobile\, communication\, basic\nsurvival\, water crossing\, wilderness medical..\nIntroduction to survival and rescue equipment and their proper uses.\nOur impact on the environment and the importance of wildlife and environmental\nrespect. ‘Leaving no trace.’\nProper steps to follow in an emergency. \nWhat to do if you become the subject of a search and rescue mission.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHelmets Thank to Iron Dog\n \n
