DESCRIPTION:Do you and your family and friends play in Alaska’s outdoors? Do you travel by skis\, snowmachine\, dog team\, helicopter\, airplane\, ATV\, Side by side\, dirt bike\, snowshoes\, tennis shoes… \nDo you travel prepared in the event you encounter the unexpected? September is National Emergency Preparedness Month and a great time to take stock of your emergency supplies and skills. Alaska Safe Riders will be hosting a free Backcountry Prepared Workshop on Saturday\, September 26th at 1:30pm at the Menard Sports Center.  \nThis workshop will be presented by Five-Time Iron Dog Champion\, and Alaska Safe Riders President\, Chris Olds \nLearn what it takes to travel across Alaska safely. What to look out for. What to carry with you. Bring your questions\, your family and friends\, and come learn from the best! Join the activities and you could win a sponsor donated prize like a helmet\, headlamp\, goggles and more. Space is limited\, arrive early and check out the Mat-Su Emergency Preparedness Expo. Training will begin promptly at 1:30pm. \nMade possible thanks to the Alaska Department of Public Safety\, Division Alaska State Troopers\, the Mat-Su Health Foundation\, Alaska Community Foundation and partners Iron Dog Race and Alaska Avalanche Information Center. \n
