That’s a wrap!

More than 1,500 people took part in the 16th annual Mat-Su Emergency Preparedness Expo at the Menard Sports Center on Saturday, September 28, 2024.  Alaska Safe Riders once again collaborated with the Matanuska-Susitna Borough Emergency Services, American Red Cross, City of Wasilla, AARP Alaska, and more than 80 other exhibitors to make this event happen.  All of this was made possible thanks to the huge financial support from the Mat-Su Health Foundation, Mat-Valley Federal Credit Union, Alaska Division of Public Safety, Alaska Railroad, and Iron Dog Race.

Congratulations to the Becker family for winning, not only two helmets for their young riders at the Prepared for the Backcountry seminar, but also the grand prize Scavenger Hunt contest earning them two round-trip tickets on Alaska Railroad from Anchorage to Fairbanks summer 2025.

This event provides a great opportunity for the ASR team to meet the public and provide lots of valuable tips and useful gear to those lucky enough to participate in activities and have their ticket drawn. Alaska Safe Riders distributed more than $3,500 in helmets, goggles, radios, headlamps and other gear through their drawings, and shared companion rescue skills with their beacon challenge game.

If you missed out, no reason to be bummed because ASR has lots more events coming this winter. Watch our Calendar of Events and stay tuned for more educational opportunities to come. Or, you can always reach out through our Contact page and request a custom program for your school, organization or company!
