Mat-Su Health Foundation – Supports Instructor Training Program
Over the past three years, Alaska Safe Riders has been hard at work assembling an all-star team of instructors to bring life-saving safety training to schools and communities across the state. These passionate educators are delivering approved curriculum focused on safe backcountry travel for snowmachines, ATVs, Side-by-Sides, and other motorized off-road vehicles.
Until now, this effort moved at a steady pace, with intern instructors volunteering their time. But thanks to a generous grant from the Mat-Su Health Foundation, we’re shifting into high gear! With this incredible support, we’re expanding our reach faster than ever and helping riders across Alaska stay safe and confident on the trails. Read More
Roger Brown and Dan Vandermeulen, Interns in Training, practice skills to teach others how to get out of situations like this, a too common occurrence for riders.

This is more than a membership—it’s a commitment to the adventure of off-road exploration and a shared mission to prevent the heartbreak, expense, and tragedy of unintentional injuries. Together, we’re building a safer, stronger riding community
In February and March, follow the ASR team as they travel along the Iron Dog race course teaching in communities along the route.
Then along the West Coast of Alaska as they travel to communities in that region sharing safety education thanks to support from Donlin Gold, Muktuk Marston, Lynden Transport and Knik Construction.
ASR wants to keep you informed about the conditions and training opportunities you’ll find each week across Southcentral Alaska. This weekly report is researched, written and produced by the ASR team. You can help ensure this information is available by becoming a sponsor or member today!
This report requies collaborators and partners to provide great resources and information to help our community have everything they need to make informed decisions. We think it’s important to continue this program and appreciate your feedback and support to make it the best report it can be! Please share your comments and feedback!
This years trail reports made possible thanks to the Mat-Su Health Foundation. Working together to make Alaska safer for all!
This issue, we are featuring the Rasmuson Foundation for supporting our mobile classroom project. Their generous grant made this long held goal a reality. We could not have done this without their help.
And the ongoing generous support of the Mat-Su Health Foundation with a Healthy Impact Grant to grow the ASR instruction team and spread safety education across the Mat-Su Borough and on to the State of Alaska.
