Weekly report 11.21.2024

00:00

It’s that time of year again! Alaska Safe Riders proudly brings you this season’s Backcountry Trail report thanks to support from the Mat Su Health Foundation and this station.

Each week we will bring you updates on trail and mountain conditions to help you plan for safe adventures!

November is Avalanche Awareness Education month. When traveling in or near the mountains, avalanche gear is essential. If a person in your group gets buried, you’ll need a beacon, shovel, and probe if you hope to get them out alive. Learn more and get current snow and avalanche condition updates at Alaska-Snow-dot-org

Early season conditions are keeping many areas closed to snowmachines to ensure adequate ground cover. Please be respectful. Get current conditions at Alaska State Parks. Remember, you need a $5 yearly pass when riding on State Park lands.

Alaska Safe Riders is hosting a Basic Riding Certification Course on Saturday, November 23rd from 10 am to 4 pm near Eureka on the Glenn Highway. Space is limited. Sign up today or learn more at AlaskaSafeRiders-dot-o-r-g.

That’s it for this week.Keep alert out there and tune in next week for more updates and tips.
