Alaska Safe Riders here with your weekly snow and trail report thanks to support from the Mat-Su Health Foundation and this station.
We have much to be thankful for this week; A few inches of fresh snow, cold temperatures to make a strong base, and more new snow in the forecast.
November is Avalanche Awareness Education month. Alaska has been the site of far too many November avalanche fatalities. Don’t be a victim. Make sure you are prepared and check for current snow conditions at Alaska-Snow-dot-org.
North on the Parks Highway toward Talkeetna you’ll find more than six inches of new snow on a 14 inch base. Beware of early season conditions and watch for overflow on waterways. Ice depths vary greatly so be alert.
Trails around Point McKenzie are open and reported in good shape and very rideable. The Eureka area off the Glenn Highway is also reported good. Keep to the meadows and trails for the best riding.
