Weekly report 1.15.2025
Alaska Safe Riders here with your weekly snow and trail report thanks to support from the Mat-Su Health Foundation and this station.
Plenty of fresh snowfall across South Central mountains this week with temps hanging around freezing. A lot of overflow is reported in the core areas around Anchorage, Palmer, and Wasilla. Travel on local rivers should be avoided!
North towards Petersville off the Parks, or Eureka and Lake Louise off the Glenn are going to be your best bet for finding safe, rideable trails.
Remember to stay alert if your travel takes you in or near the mountains. Hatcher’s Pass, Turnagain Pass, Thompson Pass, and Summit Lake are all reporting Considerable Avalanche danger. Know before you go! Get current snow and avalanche conditions at Alaska_Snow-dot-org.
Come enjoy an evening of avalanche awareness training with the Alaska Safe Riders on January 25th at the Prince WIlliam Sound Science Center in Cordova. This rescue clinic will help you learn about avalanche rescue equipment and how to use it. Learn more and sign up today at AlaskaSafeRiders.org.
Stay safe out there, and tune in next week for more updates and tips!
