Weekly report 6.12.2025
Alaska Safe Riders here bringing you all-purpose vehicle safety messages thanks to the MEA Charitable Foundation and this station.
Remember to keep your ATV and side-by-side in good working order this summer. State law requires operational front and rear lights, brakes, throttle and a muffler. Stay safe, avoid high ticket fees and unnecessary law enforcement encounters by properly maintaining your machines.
You’ll find many more trails and campgrounds open now that June is well under way. You can find current trail conditions and the status of many state campgrounds at the Alaska State Parks website.
June is also wildfire season and it’s up to all of us to do our part to prevent fires. Make sure when you camp and build a fire, you use safe methods and always ensure it is dead-out, and cold prior to your departure. It’s up to all of us to keep Alaska green, safe, and open for recreation.
If you’re looking for great ATV riding in the Mat-Su Valley, check out the Knik Glacier trail. With more than 38 miles of trails out to the glacier and back, you’ll pass through silty sand dunes, dense forests, and even mud holes, if you are into that. The best part is the glacier at the end.
Looking to get some ATV or ROV training this summer? Alaska Safe Rider is offering ATV Institute riding classes in June here in the Mat-Su. You can get all the details at https://AlaskaSafeRiders.org.
Ride smart. Ride safe. Wear a helmet. Tune in again for more trail and safety tips right here next week.
