Alaska Safe Riders here bringing you all-purpose vehicle safety messages thanks to the MEA Charitable Foundation and this station.

Think drinking, drugs and riding are no big deal? Think again. In Alaska, operating an ATV under the influence is not only illegal, it’s dangerous. A DWI off-road is still a DWI. Don’t let a fun day turn into a felony. Ride sober – the only legal way to roll.

If your riding plans will take you to the Kenai Peninsula, check out Boulder Creek Trail, near Nikiski. Located off Oilwell Road, you’ll find about 12 miles of trails that provide access to backcountry fishing spots. Here you can also expect to see moose, bear and birdwatching. The trails travel between forested areas and open meadows.

This trail is suited to those with moderate riding skills and experience. Remember to bring both bug and bear spray for protection. And be prepared, this trail can get boggy after a rain storm.

Looking to get some ATV or ROV training this summer? Alaska Safe Rider is offering ATV Institute riding classes in June here in the Mat-Su. You can get all the details at Alaska_Safe_Riders_dot_O.R.G.

Ride smart. Ride safe. Wear a helmet. And be sure to tune in next week for more trail and safety tips right here.
