As we head into the weekend, wind is the big story across Southcentral. Areas like Hatcher Pass, Petersville, and the Talkeetna Mountain Range have seen strong winds scouring ridgelines and loading leeward slopes. Many alpine zones are still riding like early season — windblown faces, thin coverage, and exposed rocks and stumps.
Avalanche centers continue to report wind slab concerns. Be cautious around steep rollovers and freshly drifted slopes, especially where the snow feels stiff or hollow under your track. Get the full forecast and learn more at AlaskaSnow_dot_org.
For more consistent riding, look toward lower elevation meadows, sheltered tree zones, and established trail systems where coverage is more reliable.
