Highs this week in the southcentral will be hovering around freezing with forecasts calling for plenty of new precipitation.
North near Petersville, we’re getting reports of 4 inches of old snow and glaciation, making trails icy and slick. Gunsight Lodge off the Glenn Highway however, is reporting 4 feet of fresh snow! Riders have also been reporting more snow above 2,000 feet.
Remember to use caution if your travel takes you in or near the mountains. Hatcher’s Pass, Turnagain Pass, and Summit Lake are all reporting Considerable Avalanche danger. Know before you go! Get current snow and avalanche conditions at Alaska_Snow-dot-org.
With all the slick and icy conditions, be sure to cleat up for safety! A bad fall on ice can end an otherwise fun day of riding in a hurry.
