Weekly report 4.10.2025
Alaska Safe Riders here with a bonus snow and trail report thanks to support from the M.E.A Charitable Foundation and this station.
While trails in the core areas around Anchorage and the Mat-Su got a refresh of snow this week, warm temperatures didn’t allow it to last long. Trails further north on both the Parks and Glenn Highways are still reported to be in good condition thanks to all the awesome grooming that was completed this season allowing the trails to hold up under increasing temperatures.
South toward Kenai, trails at lower elevations are holding up, but beware when riding in the mountains. According to the Chugach Avalanche Center over two-feet of snow fell since last Saturday contributing to an unstable snowpack. Multiple conditions exist creating dangerous problems that have the potential to trigger large avalanches. Always make sure you get the most current snow and avalanche conditions at Alaska_Snow-dot-org before heading for the hills.
Race season isn’t over yet. Arctic Man is back and set for this weekend April 10th through the 14th near Paxson. This is an incredible ski and snowmachine race full of riding, viewing, and cheering opportunities. Get all the details at articman_dot_com. The following weekend will be the Mountain Man Hill Climb near Valdez on April 17th.
The Alaska Safe Riders annual membership celebration is set for May 7th at 6pm at the MTA offices in Wasilla. Join the fun and earn a chance to win some awesome, sponsor donated prizes. Get all the details along with safe riding and touring tips at Alaska_Safe_Riders-dot-org
That’s it for this week! Keep it safe on the trails and in the mountains as we close out the season! Tune in again for summer riding and touring tips coming soon.
