If you drive, ride, know anyone who does, or want to yourself, you know ATV and off-highway vehicles make it possible to explore Alaska’s way out-there places. For many, ATV and other off-road vehicles are a vital part of life for transportation, hunting, trapping, survival and more. Alaska is a state with incredible recreational opportunities and unique challenges that draw residents and visitors from around the globe to explore our world-class environment.
But did you know Alaska ranks number one in the nation per capita for ATV related unintentional injuries and deaths?
To raise awareness about safe ATV operation, Governor Michael Dunleavy has proclaimed July ATV Safety Awareness Month and encourages Alaskans and visitors of all ages and skill levels to safely enjoy outdoor recreation and travel by getting properly prepared, trained and equipped.
By raising awareness through educational programs related to all off-highway vehicles, like those provided by Alaska Safe Riders, we can work together toward ending preventable injuries and deaths related to the operation of these vehicles in Alaska.
