Weekly report 2.7.2025

00:00

Alaska Safe Riders here with your weekly snow and trail report thanks to support from Matanuska Electric Association and this station.

Colder temperatures have arrived and are forecast to hang around, with the current model showing low chances for precipitation, especially at lower elevations.

Trails around Wasilla, Big Lake, and WIllow are reportedly icy and hard packed.  Hatcher’s Pass trails are open, but recent avalanche activity has affected the entire area and trails have not been groomed. Valdez is reporting wind blown trails.

Elevation will be key to finding deep snow this week. Head north on the Glenn to Eureka, Lake Louise and Summit Lake, or North on the Parks to Petersville where riders are reporting good conditions.

Stay alert if your travel takes you in or near the mountains.  Always carry the appropriate safety gear and know how to use it. Get current snow and avalanche conditions at Alaska_Snow-dot-org.

Duct Tape, an essential survival tool for Alaska! It can be used for machine repairs, first aid, shelter building, and much more. Don’t forget to pack a roll in your emergency kit before your next ride!

The Alaska Safe Riders Team is hosting a Mountain Rider Clinic February 15th at Summit Lake in Paxson. We will teach you the tools necessary to build your mountain riding skills and to manage mountain terrain safely. Learn more and register today at Alaska_Safe_Riders-dot-o-r-g

Keep thinking SNOW! And tune in next week for more updates and tips!
