Weekly report 2.13.2025
Alaska Safe Riders here with your weekly snow and trail report thanks to support from Matanuska Electric Association and this station.
Sustained sub-freezing temperatures have given grooming crews across the South Central an opportunity to do what they do best! The “Curry Ridge Riders” and “Talkeetna Troopers” worked diligently to open the East-West Express Trail from MP121.5 to Reflector Tree, and crews continue to repair and set trail from Trapper Creek to Chulitna Bluff. Hatcher’s Pass has been groomed from Fishhook to Summit Lake.
Stay alert if your travel takes you in or near the mountains. Always carry the appropriate safety gear and know how to use it. Get current snow and avalanche conditions at Alaska_Snow-dot-org.
Communication is critical when you are snowmachining in remote Alaska. Consider carrying a satellite communication device for emergencies. If you are injured or get into a life threatening situation, you’ll be glad you added it to your kit!
Last call to sign up for the Mountain Rider Clinic February 15th at Summit Lake in Paxson. The Alaska Safe Riders will teach you the tools necessary to build your mountain riding skills and to manage mountain terrain safely. Learn more and register today at Alaska_Safe_Riders-dot-o-r-g.
Keep thinking SNOW! And tune in next week for more updates and tips!
