Weekly report 2.20.2025
Alaska Safe Riders here with your weekly snow and trail report thanks to support from Matanuska Electric Association and this station.
The broken record continues to skip. The warm temperatures holding tight throughout the valley, may have you contemplating firing up your lawn mower rather than your snowmachine. Elevation offers some relief, however most trails are reported in rough shape.
Think you’ve got what it takes to be a State Snocross Champion? This Saturday, March 1st, The Valdez Snowmachine Club is hosting the State Snocross Invite at Thompson Pass. Race registration starts at 10am. Visit Valdezsnowmachineclub.org for a schedule and additional information.
Always stay alert if your travel takes you in or near the mountains. Carry the appropriate safety gear and know how to use it. Get current snow and avalanche conditions at Alaska_Snow-dot-org.
Don’t forget to include a multi-tool, like a Leatherman, in your gear bag. Instead of digging for several other tools, you can make the multi-tool work for most quick fixes. Versatile and easy to keep in your pocket. Visit Alaska_Safe_Riders-dot-o-r-g for more recommendations.
Stay safe out there, keep thinking “SNOW” because winter is not over yet, and tune in next week for more updates and tips!
