Weekly report 3.06.2025
Alaska Safe Riders here with your weekly snow and trail report thanks to support from Matanuska Electric Association and this station.
Warm temperatures and minimal accumulating precipitation are again in the forecast for much of the South Central. You’ll have to look to the high country to find any snow with staying power. North on the Glenn, Eureka trails are thin, but there is still good riding to be had off trail.
Turnagain Pass, Summit Lake, and Lost Lake are all reporting High Avalanche danger. Avoid travel in these areas if possible. If travel in these areas can’t be avoided, make sure to carry a beacon, shovel, and probe and know how to use them. Get current snow and avalanche conditions at Alaska_Snow-dot-org.
If you’re riding with a group, it’s important to ensure everyone is on the same page. Take a few minutes before you hit the trails to check in with each member of your party. Visit Alaska_Safe_Riders-dot-o-r-g to find a Trailhead Meeting Safety Checklist that will help get the conversation started.
Looking for some competition to finish out your season? The Hatcher Pass Boulder Dash and Valdez Mayor’s Cup are both now open for online registration. Sign up today and get ready to race!
Stay safe out there, and tune in next week for more updates and tips!
