What does it mean to you to be prepared for emergencies and disasters? Maybe it’s carrying safety gear in your car in the event of an accident. Maybe it’s packing medical supplies in your backpack for an outdoor adventure. Maybe it’s having everything in your home in case you need to shelter in place. What ever it means to you, show us with a drawing (8X11) to share in the annual Mat-Su Emergency Poster Contest. The first 150 entries receive a free ice cream from Big Dipper Homemade Ice Cream and a chance to win a top prize in one of six age divisions. Winners receive a cash gift card thanks to the Mat-Valley Federal Credit Union, a bag of supplies thanks to the American Red Cross, and a community service award presented by the Mat-Su Borough Assembly and Borough Mayor.
Your entry could also be included in the annual calendar distributed by the Mat-Su Borough Emergency Services. Take the time to share your message and help our community become more prepared and resilient in times of emergencies and disasters.
Rules:
- Ages 4 to adult – Six age divisions
- Work in any medium to create original artwork on 8.5″X11″ paper.
- Create it at home or school and bring it to the Emergency Expo on Saturday, September 26th between 10 am and 3pm at the Menard Sports Center
- Create it at the Emergency Expo
- Or… Bring it to the Mat-Su Emergency Services Operations Center on the Parks Highway next to Arby’s no later than Friday, September 25th at 4pm.
