Glacier Travel seminar

January 14, 2025 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

Alaska has more glaciers than anywhere in North America. Glacier travel on snowmachines is a high risk, high hazard activity that must be taken very seriously.   There are very important considerations that are critical if you plan to participate in this activity.  We will cover the basics of glaciers, glacier travel, and how to assess the hazards to minimize the risks.  We will demonstrate crevasse rescue gear and equipment.  We will cover the basics of crevasse rescue strategies.  This is a lead-in course to our full day glacier travel class that will be offered later this winter.  Watch this site for future listings.
